Teaching Certificate in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology

The study programme for the teaching certificate (TC) in electrical engineering and information technology is aimed at people who would like to acquire didactic training for teaching engineering courses in professional or higher education. The programme is jointly offered by the Department of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (D-ITET) and the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering (D-MAVT).

The TC is recognised at universities of applied science (FH), and for teaching as a secondary occupation at higher technical colleges (HF) and vocational school (BFS) if the respective SBFI-recognised certificates are obtained.

Training for the teaching certificate aims at combining aspects from science, didactics, educational science and practical training. It contains mentored components in which students can plan lectures themselves. During a teaching internship, students are accompanied by teachers at respective schools to deepen their own knowledge and enrich it with concrete teaching experience.

The TC comprises 24 credits ECTS and can be completed in parallel with a master programme, while studying for a doctorate, or on the job.

The didactic training for the TC in electrical engineering and information technology is supervised by the technical didact .
