Professor Vanessa Wood, currently Tenure Track Assistant Professor, has been appointed as Associate Professor of Materials and Device Engineering.

German rower Franz Gravenhorst was presented with the second annual Parmigiani Spirit Award at a ceremony with representatives from the World Rowing Federation (FISA) and Parmigiani Fleurier in Zurich on 4 December.

D-ITET was excited to welcome Prof. Sarah Springman and Prof. Lino Guzzella yesterday. Sarah Springman, Professor of Geotechnical Engineering, is to become the new Rector of ETH Zurich, while Lino Guzzella will move from the office of Rector to the Presidency.

D-ITET is delighted to present Nick McKeown as a new honorary doctor of ETH Zurich. The professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Stanford University is best known for his groundbreaking work in the area of computer networks, especially for his contributions to the architecture of Internet-routers and "Software-Defined Networking".

Prof. Andersson was invited to hold the first "Felix Wu Distinguished Lecture in Power Systems" at the University of Hong Kong.

Dr. Kevin Mader, Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Paul Scherrer Institute, received the Werner Meyer-Ilse Award in Melbourne for his PhD thesis.

The Science Award Electrochemistry honors outstanding research results in the area of lithium-ion batteries. The Award ceremony took place at Stanford University, California, lead by the Chairmen of the companies BASF and Volkswagen, Dr. Kurt Bock and Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn.
