NomadZ: Recap of recent events and CoRL 2023 Paper releases

Keep up to date with the NomadZ robotic football team here, where team member Nicole Damblon writes about the latest events, inlcuding the Swiss Robotics Day, Treffpunkt Science City, and the CoRL 2023's RoboLetics Workshop.

Beginning of November, NomadZ participated in the external pageSwiss Robotics Day in Zurich, where we showcased our work in autonomous robot soccer. We found the Swiss Robotics Day a great platform to advocate RoboCup and share our team’s work with the robotics community.

Shortly after, on November 5th, we were part of Treffpunkt Science City, ETH's largest public education programme. In ETH's main hall, we played six autonomous robot soccer matches, and received many questions, especially from the kids who were genuinely intrigued by the robots. Contributing to generating interest in robotics among children was a rewarding experience.

On another note, we're pleased to share that two of our papers were accepted at CoRL 2023's RoboLetics Workshop. The first paper, external pageOptimizing Long-Term Player Tracking and Identification in NAO Robot Soccer by fusing Game-state and External Video explores a method that combines game-state and external video for enhanced player tracking. The second paper external pageMulti-Domain Referee Dataset: Enabling Recognition of Referee Signals on Robotic Platforms introduces the "Multi-Domain Referee Dataset", addressing the challenge of recognizing referee
signals in robotic platforms.
