Hosted by the Centre for Project-Based Learning (PBL) and mentored by PBL Head Dr. Michele Magno, Prof. Cheah brings his expertise as a senior neonatologist and clinician scientist to ETH Zurich. His visit focuses on developing a non-invasive digital device to monitor newborns’ heart rates and digitising clinical workflows to identify infection risks in newborns –both aimed at enabling early medical intervention.

The fellowship, awarded by the external page Basel Research Centre for Child Health (BRCCH) – a joint initiative of ETH Zurich and the University of Basel – supports interdisciplinary research in paediatric digital health. This collaboration marks the beginning of a promising partnership between ETH Zurich and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) to advance digital innovations in neonatal care.
