For one week, 20 high school students were able to experience our department at first hand – made possible by the ETH Studienwoche, where D-ITET was one of seven participating departments.
Under the guidance of Dr. Christian Vogt, Senior Research Assistant at the Center for Project-Based Learning (PBL), they were able to control and fly their own “CrazyFlie” drones by the end of the week. To do this, the adolescents worked in pairs to complete various steps, such as controlling LEDs, assembling and soldering printed circuit boards, designing diffusers, and programming. On the final day, two of the students presented their project to their families and other participants of the ETH Studienwoche.
In addition, the high school students were given guided tours of the Student Project House and the ETH main building, they got to know the Magnetic Resonance Center, the high-voltage laboratory and the PBL Robodog and were able to ask various pressing questions during a lecture on the studies. Many thanks to everyone involved for making this great week possible!
