QuadrupETH secures first place in ICRA Quadruped Robot Challenges
The QuadrupETH team from the Center for Project-Based Learning (PBL) claimed first place in the Quadruped Robot Challenges at the 2025 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) held in Atlanta.

Team QuadrupETH from the Center for Project-Based Learning (PBL) celebrated a major success at the 2025 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) in Atlanta: The team won the Quadruped Robot Challenges. QuadrupETH secured the top position in a field of five international teams from leading universities: Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Fudan University, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), and National Taiwan University (in collaboration with Inventec Corporation).
Now in its fourth edition, the competition is becoming increasingly demanding. This year’s challenges focused on autonomous traversal of difficult terrain and inspection tasks. PBL's Robodog was the only one to successfully complete all the challenges.
The team consisted of doctoral students Davide Plozza (team leader) and Liam Boyle, research assistants Paul Joseph and Maurice Brunner (contributing remotely), and master’s students Anna Heinle and Luca Tognoni (contributing remotely). The project was supported by the ETH Future Computing Laboratory (EFCL). Congratulations!
