Important to know
Ownership: Program codes or other type of IP (Intellectual Property) created by unemployed students - e.g. in semester or Master theses - are generally NOT owned by ETH or its research groups. If a code was written within the context of a research project, the group leader should discuss and document the issue of ownership in an early stage of the project.
Authorship: At the beginning of a research project, it is recommended to create a shared document (e.g. in overleaf or Google Docs), and to invite potential co-authors. Tracking the changes during the project, discussing the role and contributions of all project members can avoid disputes and conflicts concerning the final (co-)authorship.
