Prof. Dr. Amos Lapidoth

Amos Lapidoth ist seit Juni 1999 ordentlicher Professor für Informationstheorie im Institut für Signal- und Informationstheorie der ETH Zürich.

Er wurde am 13. Juni 1965 in Jerusalem, Israel, geboren. Sein Studium in Mathematik und Elektrotechnik schloss er (beide summa cum laude) 1986 am Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, ab, wo er auch 1990 diplomierte. Er promovierte 1995 an der Universität Stanford in Elektrotechnik. Von 1987-92 arbeitete er in der Forschung und Entwicklung auf dem Gebiet der drahtlosen Kommunikation am Signal Coprs Research Labs (IDF) und wurde 1990 und 92 mit - the Chief of the Signal Corps Award for Creative Thinking- ausgezeichnet. Im Jahre 1995 trat er dem Departement Electrical Engineering and Computer Science am Massachusetts Institute of Technology bei und wurde 1999 zum Associate Professor ernannt. Seit 1997 bekleidete er den -KDD Career Development Chair in Communications and Technology-. Seine Interessen liegen heute auf dem Gebiet der digitalen Kommunikation und Informationstheorie.

Dr. Lapidoth ist Träger folgender Preise und Auszeichnungen: A. Finchey Prize for Outstanding Students of Electrical Engineering (1984), Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Communication Fellowship for Research in the Field of Communication (1990), Rothschild Fellowship for Graduate Studies (1992), und NSF Career Development (CAREER) (1997).
