He received the IEEE award for the paper titled "Parameter Uncertainty for End-to-End Speech Recognition", authored by Stefan Braun and Shih-Chii Liu. This research addresses the challenge of assigning importance to individual parameters of deep neural networks in the context of automatic speech recognition. This parameter importance can be used to increase computational efficiency in the network or to support incremental learning in speech domains.

At the same conference, Stefan Braun was awarded the IBM Best Student Paper award for the paper titled "Parameter Uncertainty for End-to-End Speech Recognition", authored by Stefan Braun and Shih-Chii Liu.
