Center for Project-Based Learning celebrates first anniversary

A year ago, the Center for Project-Based Learning D-ITET (PBL) opened its doors. Head Dr. Michele Magno talks about the achievements in this special year and about his plans for the future. TIK receives "Zukunftspreis" for research work "Feedback control goes wireless"

Members of the Computer Engineering and Networks Laboratory (TIK) have received the 2nd Zukunftspreis (Future Prize), awarded by the Ewald Marquardt foundation for their research work "Feedback control goes wireless". This is a joint work between Prof. Lothar Thiele, Dr. Romain Jacob, and researchers from Max Planck Institute Tübingen and TU Dresden.

H-Watch: Smart watch to recognize Covid-19 symptoms

Students and staff from the Center for Project-Based Learning at D-ITET (PBL) have designed and developed a smart watch which can help to detect a Covid-19 infection. The AI-enhanced “H-Watch” works based on an open connected platform and monitors Covid-19 infection symptoms, such as cough, heart rate, blood oxygenation, fatigue and skin temperature.
IIS and PBL develop sensor nodes for natural hazard modeling of the Alps

In a collaboration with the Swiss Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research (SLF) a team around Michele Magno from the Center for Project-Based Learning (PBL) and Prof. Luca Benini from the Institute for Integrated Systems (IIS) develops sensor nodes for the project Rapid Mass Movement Simulation (RAMMS).
D-ITET spin-off Adaptricity wins "Watt D'Or" 2021

Adaptricity, a D-ITET spin-off founded in 2014 has been awarded this year's Watt d'Or in the category "Energy technologies". The Watt d'Or is awarded by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy to the best energy projects.
Sucessful year for D-ITET spin-offs

With five new companies last year has been successful for spin-offs of D-ITET. Overall, 34 spin-offs were founded at ETH Zurich, with a striking proportion in the areas of AI and sustainability.
