PD Dr. Michele Magno achieves IEEE Fellow Status
Effective 1 January 2026, PD Dr. Michele Magno, Head of the Center for Project-Based Learning (PBL) and Senior Lecturer at D-ITET, has been named an IEEE Fellow by the IEEE Board of Directors. The Board honours his “contributions to low-power wake-up radios and energy harvesting for smart sensors”.
Prof. Florian Dörfler named IEEE Fellow
The IEEE Board of Directors has named Florian Dörfler, Full Professor for Complex Systems Control and Deputy Head of the Automatic Control Laboratory (IfA), an IEEE Fellow effective on 1 January 2026. The Board honours his “contributions to the control of power systems and data-driven control”.
Prof. John Lygeros granted IFAC Fellowship
John Lygeros, Full Professor for Control and Computation and Head of the Automatic Control Laboratory (IfA) at D-ITET, has been awarded the fellowship of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC).
Dr. Komron Shayegan honoured with Rising Star of Light Award
Dr. Komron Shayegan, a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Prof. Lukas Novotny’s Photonics Laboratory, has received a Rising Star of Light Award. The global campaign, initiated by “Light: Science & Applications”, recognises outstanding young scientists in optics-related topics.
Gordon Bell Prize 2025: Honorable Mention for Prof. Mathieu Luisier’s Team
Researchers from Prof. Mathieu Luisier's Nano-TCAD Group, in collaboration with the Scalable Parallel Computing Laboratory (D-INFK), have received an Honorable Mention at this year’s prestigious Gordon Bell Prize. The recognition was announced at the International Conference on High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage, and Analysis (SC25) in St. Louis, Missouri.
