Studying at D-ITET
The Department of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (D-ITET) welcomes students from abroad interested in following courses at our department and in undertaking a semester project or a Master's thesis (non-degree programme).
We expect interested students to show a good performance, to have the full support of their home universities, and to be proficient in the teaching language of the courses they intend to follow. Note that at Bachelor's level most courses are offered in German while at Master's level they are mostly taught in English.
Foreign exchange students are expected to follow courses and pass examinations just as ETH students do, a minimum of 20 credits ECTS per semester is required. Students are free to choose courses from all levels and departments at ETH. However a minimum of two thirds of the credits must be chosen from the courses offered at D-ITET (courses with the first three digits 227, see ETH course catalogue).
In general, exchange students may also take part in research projects at ETH. Students interested in a semester project or a Master's thesis should contact a supervisor at one of our department's laboratories.

It is important that the curriculum has been well coordinated with the schedule of the home university. The ETH semester dates, as well as the timing of the examination sessions, are published in the academic calendar.
All interested students must apply through the Online Portal of the Student Exchange Office. Once at ETH, incoming students must contact the D-ITET mobility advisor in order to discuss the details of the semester.
Before leaving ETH at the end of the exchange period, the students may request a transcript of records showing their grades and credits at D-ITET's student administration office.
