As diversity is a fact, the choice of being inclusive in one’s work environment has direct consequences. After laying a brief theoretical foundation, Jamie Lee Gloor, PhD and post-doctoral researcher at the University of Zurich, presented recent studies showing the various ways this happens.
During the following interactive discussion, moderated by Olga Pardo from ETH Human Resources, the four panelists, Prof. Vanessa Wood, Head of D-ITET, Dr. Andreas Ulbig, co-founder of the start-up Adaptricity, Prasad Ramakrishnan, Global Operations Leader and Lecturer, and Jamie Gloor showed how we all should be aware of hidden biases, be it during oral exams, hiring processes, or as superiors. Hidden biases can significantly impact other people’s lives even if we don’t intend to. The event was closed with an apéro riche and stimulated discussion until late in the evening.
The D+ITET team would like to thank the audience for joining this event and already looks forward to the upcoming events!
