The "Schülerinnentag" 2020 was held online
This year's edition of the "Schülerinnentag", organised by the association "Ladies in Mechanical and Electrical Studies" (LIMES), was attended by around 40 schoolgirls in the morning of 23 November. In addition to the presentation of the study programmes "Electrical Engineering and Information Technology" and "Mechanical Engineering", the event included further presentations, videos and discussions on the study programmes.
Prof. Gabriela Hug (D-ITET) and Prof. Inge Herrmann (D-MAVT) talked about their careers and their everyday work as professors at ETH Zurich. In a subsequent discussion round, female students and graduates of both programmes were available to answer questions.
The event concluded with an online quiz with questions from the field of natural and engineering sciences, in which the girls were also able to indicate which course of study they were currently leaning towards: Almost all participants of the "Schülerinnentag" would like to study at ETH after graduating from school, most of them really mechanical or electrical engineering.
