Admission
A federal or federally accredited Swiss matriculation certificate (gymnasialer Maturitätsausweis) or a Bachelor's degree or diploma from a Swiss accredited university of applied sciences (Fachhochschule FH) in the field of Electrical Engineering allow for a direct admission to the Bachelor's degree programme in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering.

An application to Bachelor's programmes is open to everybody. ETH Zurich may, however, require you to pass an entrance examination before admitting you.
The application deadline to the fall semester is April 30.
These admission details are only applicable to the Master's Programme in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering. For details on other Master's Programmes consult their websites.
Admission for Bachelor's Students from D-ITET (ETH)
Students with a Bachelor's degree from our department are admitted without formal application to the consecutive Master's programme, the electronic registration suffices.
Advanced Bachelor's students may begin the Master's Programme provided that they have acquired all credit points of the first and second year and need to obtain no more than 30 credit points ECTS to complete the bachelor program.
Registration in myStudies opens about two months before the beginning of each semester (see Academic Calendar)
All other Students
All other candidates must submit an online application. Please refer to the Admission Office's website, also for admission requirements and procedure.
Deadlines for applications:
- November 1 to November 30 (of the previous year)
- Students with a bachelor's degree from a Swiss university who do not need a visa or already have a valid Swiss residence permit may also apply from April 1 to April 30 of the same year the program starts.
Applications are only possible to the fall semester.
Please note: The Master's degree programme in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering attracts a large number of applications and we cannot grant admission to every qualified foreign student.

Admission for holders of a degree from a Swiss university of applied sciences (FH)
ETH welcomes excellent students from Swiss universities of applied sciences!
Perquisites:
- A Bachelor's diploma in electrical engineering from a Swiss university of applied sciences
- An average grade of 5.0 (Abschlussprädikat "sehr gut").
Admission to the Master's Degree Programme in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering for students of Swiss universities of applied sciences is accompanied by the following additional requirements:
- Courses from the examination Block 1 and 3 of the second year of the Bachelor's Degree Programme in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering
- Two core courses from the third year of the Bachelor's Degree Programme in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering
Note: Passing these additional courses takes around two semesters. In rare cases, courses from the Master's level or a Semester Project may be taken during the second of these two semesters.
Caution: All exams of the additional requirements must be sat within these two semesters and successfully passed after four semesters.

Applications for a PhD position should be sent directly to the individual professors. Applicants must have a master degree from a reputed university. Admission may be conditional on passing between one and three courses at ETH.
