Calls for Student Challenges, Prizes, Scholarships, and Fellowships
On this web page, you can find various information from internal and external sources regarding challenges, prizes, scholarships, fellowships, and summer schools for D-ITET students. Some of the content is only available in German.
The James Dyson Award is part of James Dyson's wider commitment to encouraging budding engineers and designers to apply their knowledge and discover new ways to improve lives through technology. Inventions that could make a real difference to people's lives are in demand. Since its inception in 2005, the James Dyson Award has supported more than 400 inventions with prize money totalling £1 million.
Task: Design something that solves a problem. This problem can be a nuisance that we all face in our daily lives or a global problem. The important thing is that the solution is effective and demonstrates thoughtful design thinking. Unlike other competitions, participants are given full autonomy over their intellectual property.
Procedure: All entries will be judged at national level by a panel of external judges and a Dyson engineer. One national winning project and two national runner-up projects will be selected in each of the 28 participating countries. From these, a jury of Dyson engineers will select a top 20 shortlist. These 20 projects will then be reviewed by Sir James Dyson, who will select the winning projects at international level.
Prize money: The winners selected by Sir James Dyson at international level will each receive prize money of €36,000 (£30,000).
