Prof. Juerg Leuthold, head of the Institute of Electromagnetic Fields, was interviewed for SRF 10vor10, a news programme on Swiss television. In his statement he clarifies how satellites could be used for communication in emergency sitations.

The snowfall shortly before Easter caused chaos in Upper Valais. This is precisely the time when emergency services need a reliable radio network. But the Polycom blue light system, the national radio system of the authorities and organisations for rescue and security, also failed. In addition to frustration, there are now also calls for alternative systems. Prof. Juerg Leuthold explains in his statement how such alternative systems could realistically work:
