Additional information

Bastian Korthauer was born in Wesel, Germany, in 1993. After finishing his apprenticeship to an electronics technician, he studied electrical engineering at Paderborn University where he received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree in 2018 and 2020, respectively.

During his studies he worked as a student assistant in the Department for Power Electronics and Electrical Drives of Paderborn University. There he dealt with the development, simulation and implementation of control strategies for power-factor-controlled rectifiers and DC-DC Converters for automotive purposes. In his master’s thesis he developed an Active-Clamp Forward Converter to function as automotive 2.2 kW on-board DC-DC-Converter based on SiC semiconductors.

In December 2020, he joined the Laboratory for High Power Electronic Systems (HPE) at ETH Zurich as a PhD Student working on insulation models for an optimized transformer design.
